30 wins the aim: Coley

4 May 2018

John Coleman says champions Stanley have plenty to play for – as he wants the milestone of 30 league wins.

The Reds have chalked up 29 league wins in a memorable season after they clinched promotion against Yeovil just over two weeks ago and then won the league on Saturday.

They travel to 10th placed Swindon tomorrow to finish off a historic campaign.

“Anyone who knows me knows I want to win a game of tiddlywinks so we are going there to win,” said Coleman, who missed out on a hat-trick of Manager of the Month titles to Luton's Nathan Jones.

“I want to get to 30 league wins, that's a phenomenal achievement for any team in the EFL and for Accrington Stanley it's an even bigger achievement.

“That's a milestone for us and I think it's a milestone I will probably never do again in my life.”

Coleman admits he already has an eye on next season as Stanley won promotion to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history.

“I have had a look at League One and, apart from Charlton and Sunderland, I think we have played most of the teams in the league already.

“I am speaking to the players who are out-of-contract soon to sort out their futures but luckily most of the players are on long-term deals. I should have an easier summer than previous summers.

“Due to what we have done we should be able to attract better loan players but we don't want a plethora of loan players, we have learnt our lesson on that.”
