We have the belief: Coley

30 March 2018

John Coleman says his title-chasing side have ‘belief, confidence and momentum' - but Stanley have also had a 'bit of luck.'

The Reds currently sit second in League Two, with nine games to go, and travel to seventh placed Mansfield today (3pm), who have drawn four and lost one of their last five games.

Stanley last lost a match on January 27th  and are hoping to reclaim top spot off Luton.

“You have to have some luck when you go on a run of winning games and we have had some luck,” said Coleman.

“Belief, confidence and momentum is huge in football. Sometimes you come off the pitch wondering how you have won, saying that sometimes you walk off the pitch after playing well and wonder how you haven't won.

"We have found a way to play and it has been successful, we have a great team spirit and character and there are nine big performances needed."

Coleman admits he is enjoying the national media attention – he was on Sky's Soccer Saturday last week while there was a feature on the Reds on BBC's Football Focus - although he is finding it difficult as they haven't won anything yet.

“When you are doing well, it's inevitable that you will attract attention. You have just to get on with it and it's great that people are talking about us for the right reason but I wish it was when everything is over and done with.”
