Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt has been granted permission to develop his land behind Read Garden Centre into a training facility for the Reds.
The ‘change of use of agricultural land' was passed by Ribble Valley Borough Council last night subject to further reports and conditions.
Mr Holt applied for 'a construction of a new sports changing room facility, including showers, and associated car park with new inclusive access road' at the fields, off Whalley Road in Read.
The surrounding fields will become three full size football pitches alongside two undersized pitches.
“There will be a few months of tests to carry out first for flood risk and so on but this is a big boost for us,” said Mr Holt.
Stanley manager John Coleman, who despite not having a regular training ground led his side to the League Two title last season, added: “I am delighted, it shows we are heading in the right direction. We won't have it yet but it bodes well for the future.”
