Stanley sign Finley

28 June 2018

Accrington Stanley have signed midfielder Sam Finley after his contract ended at National League side AFC Fylde.

The 25-year-old has been at TNS in the Welsh League, winning the league four times and playing in the Europa League, and spent a season at Wrexham.

He has been at AFC Fylde since August 2015, helping them clinch promotion to the National League and captaining the side last season, as they missed out on promotion to the Football League via the play-offs.

He has signed a two-year deal with the Reds.

Manager John Coleman said: "Sam is a good player, and had two particularly good games against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup last season.

"He is a competitive midfielder who fits the mould here. He is hungry. He could have got more money playing in non-league but he wanted a crack at the league and he is backing himself to do that, I like that.

"He is the type of player we want. We can't give him riches but we can give him the platform to go on and better himself."

Finley is Stanley's third signing of the summer after Will Wood and Piero Mingoia.
