Big season for Zehn

9 June 2018

Zehn Mohammed admits it's a big season for him as he looks to break into the first team squad.

Mohammed, 18, is in the second year of his first professional deal and is keen to make an impression.

The Blackburn-born teenager, who was scouted while playing for his school QEGS, joined Accrington when he was 16.

"The intention was always to be a professional footballer and the last two years have gone really quickly," said the defender.

"I had a trial for Accrington's Under 16s and then signed a professional deal and I have been on the bench a couple of times.

"I just love defending, I love tackling, heading the ball and winning my individual battles. Training with the first team every day certainly helps me, especially training with the more experienced defenders.

"The gaffer and Jimmy (Bell) are brilliant with me, they always push me in training and try and get the best out of me.

"It is fierce competition in defence here but my aim is to work hard, come back ready for pre-season the fittest I can be and, if I get my chance, take it.

"I enjoyed watching the team win the league last season, I learnt a lot with the speed of the game and it helped me get to grips to the standards which I need to hit. Now I hope I can be part of the squad this season.

"It would be my dream to make my league debut for Accrington Stanley."
