Billy Kee's goal was enough to see off a Blackburn Rovers side in the final pre-season match for Stanley.
Kee fired home in the 11th minute to give the Reds three victories against higher placed opposition at the Wham Stadium ahead of the League One opener next Saturday.It was a case of four seasons in one day with sunshine, wind, rain and hailstones as 2,716 fans braved the elements.
Blackburn's first team had played Everton on Thursday and it was the rest of the squad who took to the field with Stanley keeper Jonny Maxted having to be alert in the second minute to dive at the feet of Joe Nuttall.
Stanley came into it and opened the scoring when Kayden Jackson played a great ball into the box and Kee rifled it into the roof of the net.
Sean McConville came close to doubling the tally on 16 minutes with his free kick pushed out by Rovers stopper Jayson Leutwiler.
Stanley looked lively but Blackburn's Willem Tomlinson blasted a shot from distance narrowly over while Mark Hughes and Ross Sykes pulled off superb blocks to deny Tomlinson and Nuttall.
Sykes came off for Ben Richards-Everton at the break but it was Rovers who had a good chance to equalise on 52 minutes. Craig Conway's cross was pushed out by Maxted and Jacob Davenport headed over from six yards.
Striker Nuttall also headed off-target from close range while Davenport's shot was turned behind the post by Maxted.
Piero Mingoia and Sam Finley came on just after the hour mark with Erico Sousa and Danny Williams also making an appearance later on.
Jackson couldn't convert an effort while Mingoia came close to adding to Stanley's tally on 72 minutes with a fierce shot which was deflected wide.
A save by Maxted and a Hughes block prevented Lewis Hardcastle getting on the scoresheet for Rovers at the end.
Stanley will be happy with their pre-season preparations – now it's time for the real thing.
