'Massive' week for Reds

2 February 2018

John Coleman knows how important every win can be during a tight League Two season as Stanley face two successive home games.

Coleman's side face 14th placed Stevenage tomorrow followed by seventh placed Swindon on Tuesday, who have one of the best away records in the league.

The Reds have slipped down to eighth place – but are only two points off Wycombe in second, and have a game in hand on many of the teams above them.

“Stevenage have won a number of difficult games and I am still scratching my head as to how we lost the game at their place earlier in the season,” said Coleman.

“Historically we don't have the best of records against them and we need to put a few wrongs right.”

After a strong start to the season, Stanley lost five successive games during December, before winning four on the bounce.

However with defeat at Crawley last week – Harry Kewell's side have done the double over the Reds – and Coleman knows they can't afford another poor run in the closely-packed league.

“We need to get back to winning ways,” said Coleman. “We had the warning in December and we know one loss can't become more.

“Every game is a big game, we are focusing on Stevenage but it is a big week as we are the only team who play on Tuesday and good results could put us in a healthy position.

“Sometimes results have been kind to us and last weekend they weren't but we can only take care of our business.

“With three games in a week, it is massive – and we are aware it can also be disastrous - we have to make sure it isn't.”
