Accrington Stanley have signed 21-year-old Daniel Barlaser from Newcastle United on a six-month loan deal.
The central midfielder was just eight-years-old when he joined the Magpies, coming through their academy before making his first team debut in an FA Cup win over Birmingham.
Barlaser has made three appearances for Newcastle's first team, as well as three appearances for their U21s in their 2017/18 League Trophy tilt.
“I'm delighted to be here,” said the midfielder. “Looking at the fixtures and the results the club has had recently they've started really well.
“Stanley had a tremendous season last season, and they played very good football which suits me.
“I like to play in the middle, although I can play in a three and I've played a couple of times behind the frontman, but I'm more favoured for a central role."
When asked about what fans can expect from his time at Stanley, Barlaser answered: “A lot of assists!
“I'll chip in with a couple of goals but more assists. At Newcastle I was more of a traditional No.8 or No.4, so I like to take people on and get assists really.”
Born in Gateshead, the midfielder has represented Turkey at youth level, qualifying through his father, before being called up to England's U18s in 2015.
Barlaser spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra last season, coming off the bench at the Wham Stadium in the Reds 1-0 win when the sides met in League Two.
“I could have come here last year and I didn't, but I probably should have because of the way things panned out,” he laughed.
“The style of play at Crewe didn't really suit me, and I didn't get as much game time as I wanted. I played here last season for them when Stanley won, so I have played here before.
“All I want to do is play football – good football so that the fans enjoy it and hopefully I can do that.”
