Hall joins the Reds

31 August 2018

Accrington Stanley have signed frontman Connor Hall on loan from Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old has joined the Reds on loan until January, becoming John Coleman's third loan signing of the day just minutes before the loan window closed.

Hall was Bolton's Young Player of the Year for the 2017/18 season, and is delighted to be joining Stanley.

“I'm buzzing - I've been looking to get out on loan since January,” said Hall. “I had a good season last season so I was hoping to be able to go somewhere.

“I know it's obviously late but to join such a good club has been good and I'm looking forward to getting started.

“I heard at the start of the month that Stanley were interested, and when I heard of that interest I was quite keen to go.”

The young striker made his first start for Bolton's first team in this year's Carabao Cup competition, after netting 22 times for the Whites U23s last season.

“I haven't played in the EFL yet so obviously it will be good experience to get game time in League One,” said Hall.

“I quite like to run in behind, playing off the shoulder of defenders and using my pace to get onto long balls or balls down the channel.

“I can hold the ball up as well, bring other players into play and hopefully get a few goals and assists.

“If I can chip in with a few goals and help the team do well then that's got to be the main goal.”

Hall joined Sheffield United as a youngster at the end of 2015 before signing his first professional contract with the Blades six-months later, a month before his eighteenth birthday.

The frontman feels that his route into football keeps him focused on what is important, and says his work-rate is his main attribute.

He said: “I didn't sign professionally for a club until just before I was 18, so because of my background, because of playing at the grass roots level, that has helped me to realise just how hard I had to work to get to where I am.

"I'm looking forward to starting."

Hall is unable to be selected for tomorrow's Sky Bet League One match at home to Scunthorpe, and but will join up with his new Stanley teammates tomorrow before preparing for the Burton Albion game on Saturday 8th September.
