Accrington Stanley have signed striker Luke Charman on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old arrives at the Wham Stadium having been top scorer in Newcastle's U23s set-up last season.
The young Englishman has already scored two goals in three games for the Magpies in this season's Premier League 2 campaign.
Charman joins the Reds for his first loan spell away from Tyneside after joining Newcastle at U14 level and progressing through their academy system.
“I'm excited,” said Charman. “I'm a bit shocked because it's come a bit out of the blue as I only found out this morning, but I'm very excited.
“I'm hoping that I can score plenty of goals, help the team to do well, and try to make a name for myself.
“I am someone who's going to work hard for the team, do a lot of running and put a shift in.”
Charman follows Newcastle U23 teammate Daniel Barlaser to the Wham Stadium after the central midfielder joined on loan earlier this morning.
“[Daniel] is one of my good friends,” said Charman. “I think it will help me having at least one person there that I know.
“He's already been in touch to tell me that the lads are really sound.”
Charman is unable to be selected for tomorrow's Sky Bet League One match at home to Scunthorpe, and will join up with his new Stanley teammates next week to prepare for the game against Burton Albion on Saturday 8th September.
