Stanley got back to winning ways at home and moved up to fourth in the league with victory over promotion rivals Coventry.
In the first meeting between the sides since Stanley reformed in 1968, it was John Coleman's side who came out on top thanks to Sean McConville's 14th minute winner.Coleman, whose side hadn't won in three games at the Wham Stadium, made two changes to the side which lost 2-0 to Luton, with defender Ben Richards-Everton and six goal striker Kayden Jackson both back after injury.
Stanley started strongly with Coventry keeper Lee Burge tipping Sean McConville's shot onto the bar while Liam Nolan tested the stopper with a long range shot.
Coventry's first shot was from Duckens Nazon which he blazed over the bar while winger Jodi Jones tried to lob Aaron Chapman but was also off-target.
Stanley were the majority of the pressing and it was McConville who opened the scoring on 14 minutes when Jordan Clark's cross found the winger on the left of the area and he rifled the ball home.
Kayden Jackson hit the side netting and Stanley hit the woodwork again after Billy Kee charged down a clearance and the ball looped up and off the woodwork on 34 minutes.
McConville fired just over the bar on the stroke of half-time as Stanley controlled the first half, limiting Coventry to long range strikes.
Coventry upped their game after the break and their first shot on target came from Nazon from distance on 59 minutes but it was easy for the Stanley keeper.
The second one came a minute later with five-goal striker Nazon forcing the first real save from Chapman as Coventry enjoyed a spell of pressure.
Chapman denied Jones with his legs as the visitors pressed although Stanley striker Kee came close to a second on 69 minutes, withh his fierce effort just over the bar.
Clark watched an effort sail over while, at the other end, Coventry continued to hunt for the equaliser and substitute Marc McNulty had a free header but couldn't find the target.
Chapman held onto a Rod McDonald header and pushed away a Jones shot in the nervy final minutes as Stanley held on for three points.
