Kee aiming for 50 goals

6 October 2017

Billy Kee needs one more goal to hit the 50-goal target for Accrington Stanley.

The striker has had two spells with the club, after first coming on loan from Leicester in 2009/10, and already has eight goals this season.

“I would like to get 100 Accrington goals by the time I finish my time here,” said Kee, 26. “I am the top league scorer at Accrington and am the top league scorer at Burton which is always nice.

“Reaching 50 will be a landmark though and I hope to do it tomorrow.”

Kee was nominated for SkyBet Player of Month for September after scoring five goals in the month, but just missed out to Barnet's Shaquile Coulthirst.

“It's nice to be noticed but I think it should be a Team of the Month award,” said Kee. “You are up for awards usually when teams are doing well.

“For the goals against Port Vale, it was Sean McConville's cross which made it and I just had to tap it in from a yard so the awards should be for everyone as it's all about the team.”

Kee comes up against his friend Alan Sheehan against Luton tomorrow – the two have been pals for years.

“Alan is one of my good friends and I don't like playing against him as he is one of the better defenders in the league.

“We won't chat about the game prior to it but we will catch up after and it's always great to see him.”

Luton are one of the promotion chasers and are one of just two League Two teams who have beat Accrington at the Wham Stadium in 2017.

“Luton were strong last year, they were a good side and this game, like the Mansfield game, will be a sign of how far we have come.

“It will be a big crowd and it's the games you love to play in. Hopefully I can get my 50th goal.”
