Prestigious trip for Academy coach

10 November 2017

Accrington Stanley's Duncan Fearnhead is one of just four Academy coaches who have been selected to attend a prestigious trip to Spain.

The League Football Education (LFE) have organised the trip, funded by Erasmus, and it was open to all 72 Football League clubs for Academy Heads, Heads of Coaching and Under 18 staff.

Stanley's Academy Head of Coaching Duncan was lucky enough to secure a place on the ‘LFE Coach Trip' and admits it's an honour.

“I am proud to be chosen,” said Duncan. “It was a tough selection process but I have always been a big fan of Spanish football and hopefully I can bring something back to Accrington's Academy.”

The trip is this month and Duncan, along with three others, will go to Seville, Malaga, Real Betis and Granada.

“We will watch training, attend meetings and there will be various sessions where we can hopefully learn some new techniques and bring them back.

“Spanish football is focused on technical and tactical ability, shown by the international team and the top Spanish teams.

“It's an opportunity to see how they develop their players and what we can add to our game to bring them up to their standard.

“Our programme at Accrington Stanley is closely linked to the Spanish programme anyway but hopefully this will enhance what we deliver.”
