John Coleman knows the perfect answer to Tuesday's FA Cup knock-out is to go top of League Two on Saturday.
Stanley lost to National League side Guiseley on penalties in the first round replay on Tuesday and Coleman admits his team were still ‘in a bit of a shock.'
But victory over ninth placed Newport on Saturday and other results going their way, could see the Reds hit top spot come 5pm.
“We have got to get over Tuesday,” said Coleman. “I think we are all in a bit of a shock about it and we have got to get the feel-good factor back around the club and one way to do that is look at the league table.
“It's my job to pick the lads up and remember what we have done this season but we also have to recognise how poorly we played in the second half against Guiseley.
“It will be a different game on Saturday, a different style of play. Sometimes the higher up the league you can get, you can tighten up and have a fear of failure but we have to make sure this doesn't happen. We have got to play with freedom and play like we did earlier in the season.
“We are upset about Tuesday but you can't beat yourself up about it and one way to put it behind us would be to go to the top of the league on Saturday.”
Michael Flynn's Newport are seven points behind Stanley but have a threat in former Accrington striker Padraig Amond, who has seven goals this season.
“We have not had a good record against Newport,” added Coleman. “They finished the season strongly last season and we know they have a threat in Podge.
“He scored against us last season and we know he is one we have to keep quiet if he plays.
“We have to look at the reasons why we didn't play well on Tuesday and come up with a plan to be better and hopefully we will see the fruits of that on Saturday.”
Winger Erico Sousa is a doubt after coming off early on Tuesday with a knock.
