Stanley 2 Oldham 2

22 July 2017

Accrington Stanley were denied victory by a late Oldham Atheltic goal at the Wham Stadium on Saturday.

Stanley took a deserved lead in the 17th minute courtesy of a Billy Kee header but they were pegged back just after the break when Craig Davies scored from the spot.

It looked as though substitute Mehki McLeod had won it for the home side, but Courtney Duffus scored four minutes from time, meaning the pre-season friendly ended all square.

Stanley made a bright start and went close in the third minute when skipper Seamus Conneely put a shot over the bar from the edge of the area.

Six minutes later, lively new signing Kayden Jackson tested the visitors' trialist goalkeeper for the first time, with a header from a corner.

After an impressive start Stanley didn't have to wait much longer to get their reward, Kee capping a wonderful move by heading home McConville's left wing cross.

Oldham forward Aaron Holloway came close to levelling on the half hour mark but saw his goal bound effort stopped by Omar Beckles.

The first action of the second half saw a Courtney Duffus shot handled inside the area by Liam Nolan. Forward Craig Davies made no mistake from the spot sending Stanley's trialist goalkeeper the wrong way, to equalise.

The Reds then went close twice through Jordan Clark who was causing the Oldham back four all sorts of problems.

In the 72nd minute substitute McLeod went on an electric run before bending an effort from the edge of the area beyond the goalkeeper, to put Stanley ahead once more.

With four minutes remaining, Duffus levelled the scoreline again, a powerful run and shot from the edge of the area found its way past the trialist in the Accrington goal.

Attendance: 921.
