Stanley lost out by a single goal to Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town in the first pre-season friendly of the 2017/18 season.
New signing Tom Ince squeezed the ball home in the 56th minute to separate the sides while John Coleman got a look at his new squad in a competitive game for the first time.Huddersfield fielded a different side in each half including new signings £3.5m Laurent Depoitre, defender Scott Malone and £11.5m Benin international Steve Mounie.
The visitors came close to opening the scoring when record signing Mounie, from Montpellier, raced onto a long ball from keeper Jonas Lossl and chipped the outrushing Aaron Chapman but his effort was wide.
Stanley fielded a strong side, which did include three trialists, as Coleman prepares for the new season.
It was winger Jordan Clark who had Stanley's first real effort with his strike blocked and Sean McConville curled the rebound wide.
A Matty Pearson header was cleared while a Phillip Billing 20-yard free kick caught McConville in the back.
There was some neat build-up play between captain Seamus Conneely and Clark on the right ending with defender Janoi Donacien firing over while a McConville free kick was headed just wide by a Stanley trialist to keep it all square at the break.
Coleman made five changes at half-time as new signings Mekhi McLeod and Liam Nolan got their first run-out at the Wham Stadium.
Defender Omar Beckles had an early chance in the second half but headed wide while former Bradford City frontman Nakhi Wells unleashed a fierce strike which wasn't far off for David Wagner's side.
The Terriers opened the scoring when Ince got the ball in the area and, at the second attempt, it squirmed into the bottom corner beyond the diving Chapman.
Stanley tried to get back on level terms with Hull loanee Jonny Edwards forcing a good save out of Terriers keeper Joel Coleman.
Another Reds new boy Erico Sousa came on in the 70th minute, along with fans favourite Rommy Boco, but it was Edwards who had another go – Coleman diving low to keep out his effort from distance.Reagan Ogle, who signed his first professional contract in the summer, also entered the fray and tricky winger McLeod almost got a late leveller with a rasping shot which was just wide.
Chapman tipped over a Ince free kick and denied Wells late on as Stanley suffered a narrow loss to the top flight newcomers.
