Accrington Stanley kicked off the season in style with a thumping 3-1 win over Colchester United.
First half goals from debutant Kayden Jackson and Billy Kee gave the Reds a dream start to the new campaign.
Omar Beckles scored the third midway through the second period, the defender prodding home from a Sean McConville corner.
Sammie Szmodics late strike set up a nervy finish but the damage had been done at the Wham Stadium.
Following a long pre-season campaign Stanley manager John Coleman will have been delighted with the way in which his side flew out of the traps in their Sky Bet League Two opener.
It took just nine minutes for the lively Jackson to register his first Stanley goal when he was released by a smart ball from Liam Nolan, the forward advanced into the penalty area and calmly stroked the ball beyond the on-rushing Sam Walker.
Ben Richards-Everton almost doubled the lead in the 15th minute but saw his towering header beaten away by Walker, the save fell straight to McConville but his shot whistled wide from a tight angle.
Moments later Colchester reminded Stanley of the threat they posed on the counter-attack, Craig Slater scuffing wide from Ryan Jackson's low cross.
The Reds continued to push forward though, and they were rewarded just after the half-hour mark, when Kee slammed home following a goalmouth scramble.
McConville had nipped in and won possession, putting the ball into the danger area, it eventually fell to Kee who made no mistake.
A dismayed John McGreal made two changes to his side at the break. One of those changes, Szmodics, missed a glorious effort to halve the deficit, slicing wide from inside the area in the 47th minute.
It was all over in the 64th minute, when the ever-industrious McConville saw his curled effort deflected wide. He then took the resulting corner himself which was helped along by Nolan before Beckles prodded home to make it 3-0.
Eight minutes from time Szmodics did pull one back for Colchester, turning home following Mikael Mandron's deflected effort.
The goal set up a nervy finish but Stanley saw out the remaining minutes well to claim an opening day win.
