Stanley winger Mekhi McLeod was gutted to be sent off against Notts County in the 2-2 draw on Friday but says he will learn from the experience.
The summer signing had only been on the pitch eight minutes, after coming on as a sub, when he saw red for a challenge on Ryan Yates on 66 minutes.
The 20-year-old was visibly dejected and furious after Carl Boyeson showed him the red card, venting his anger as he went into the Meadow Lane tunnel.
But McLeod did not hide from the media after and was willing to speak about the incident.
"I felt it was a 50-50 ball," said McLeod. "I got caught up in a tight space, their players were either side of me, and I have taken a heavy touch and then have gone again to get the ball and that's the challenge I was sent off for.
"It might have looked bad as I was lunging and he had come over the ball but it was an honest challenge.
"I had come on against West Brom earlier in the week and felt I did well and really wanted to show the fans again what I could do but it wasn't to be on Friday,
"It is a learning curve for me and I have to learn from this experience. It's not an experience I want to have again but thankfully the boys have helped me by Mallik Wilks scoring on his debut to make it 2-2. I messed up for the team but thankfully the lads have shown great character and got a point.
"I am an emotional person and I think the reason I haven't gone further in football yet is that I have to learn to control my emotions and that's something this experience will help with."
Unless Stanley appeal the decision, McLeod will now miss three games.
