New experience for Zak

1 September 2016

Deadline day signing Zak Vyner is being thrown in at the deep end with his move to Stanley - and is loving the experience.

The defender has come in on loan from Championship side Bristol City until January for his first move away from Ashton Gate.

The 19-year-old comes into contention for Saturday's trip to Carlisle but also has new domestic arrangements to get used to having moved into a house with new team mates Aaron Chapman, Shay McCartan, Rommy Boco, Callam Jones and Omar Beckles

"This is the first time I've come away from home so it is a challenge in that respect," he said. "The lads at the house have been brilliant and made me feel really welcome so that's a good start.

"I've spoken to the lads in the house who all signed either at the end of last season or in the summer so it was new to them. I'm the newest one but they've welcomed me well.

"It'll do me good to be somewhere new. Everything here is different and I have to get used to that but I'm looking forward to it. It's a different challenge but I want to get stuck into it and give it a go here."

Vyner already has experience of the first team at his parent club and jumped at the chance to head north and have the opportunity to play regular games in League Two.

"I first heard about it yesterday so I spoke to my agent and the gaffer and we got the deal done as quickly as possible," he continued. "I came up straight away. It was a long journey, took me four and a half hours, but the main thing is that I'm here now and have settled in well with the lads.

"I've come here wanting to play as many games as I can. I want to improve and better myself. I think I can do that here and it'll give me the last thing I need to push on and play in the Championship.

"I know Matt Macey who was here a couple of years ago. He's doing well at Arsenal now. A loan move can always lead to other things and that's always good."
