Stanley keeper Elliot Parish was left lost for words by their last gasp defeat at West Ham.
The Reds were knocked out of the EFL Cup at the third round stage at the Olympic Stadium, with superstar Dimitri Payet netting a superb free kick in the final minute of added time at the London Stadium.
It was a cruel way for John Coleman's side and their vociferous travelling support to bow out.
“It's almost heartbreaking isn't it?” said Parish. “We were all in the dressing room (afterwards) feeling like it was 94 minutes wasted. Heartbreaking is about all I can say about it.
“The guys played so well and defended so well that I hardly had a save to make until fairly late in the second half. I was just thinking that I needed to stay switched on because something would come along and suddenly I had to save two in quick succession. I was sharp so it was fine.
“They were down to ten men so we were thinking we could get into the extra time and take it to them again. It was such a blow to let it slip so late.
“It went through my mind that it would be a good free kick and I'm sure a lot of goalkeepers have thought that now…”
A crowd of over 39000 was the biggest the Reds have played in front of since the reformation in 1962 and though Parish feels it was a great occasion, attention has already turned to the next challenge.
“It was fantastic to come and play here but in a funny way almost easier than league games,” he explained. “Everything is in your favour and you have nothing to lose. The thing for us to do now is make this a good week and go and win on Saturday at Colchester.
“It was hard out there but we have to make sure we are mentally tough and tell ourselves we aren't tired. We have to go and be better and hopefully that will bring us the three points. We've won two on the bounce in the league and part of the job is to bounce back. We have to go and make it three wins on the spin. Ultimately the league is the most important thing.”
