Rommy Boco was delighted to make a key contribution as Stanley turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory at Colchester.
The 31-year-old started at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and scored the equalising goal before Billy Kee bagged the winner.
Boco's goal saw the Benin international race from his own half of the pitch all the way into United's box before squeezing his third goal of the season into the corner of the net.
“I pushed out and I was trying to see if players were following me," he explained. "One did for a while but I kept going and felt like I was on my own. It was kind of one v one but another player was coming closer and closer. I knew I wasn't going to pass it and I thought that if I'd run 70 yards I should probably shoot. I shot and luckily enough it went in.
“It's one of the good goals I've scored in my career but hard to say if it's the best."
It was a hard fought win and a third in succession in League Two.
Boco feels the whole team worked hard to ensure they headed home from Essex with the points.
“That was a really tough game," he added. "The early goal really killed us for a while and we had to get our heads down and work. They really played well to be honest. At half time we had a wake up call from the staff and we knew we had to do better. I think as soon as we scored we looked a bit better and a bit sharper and there was only one team who wanted to win after that.
“When it was 1-1 and we were back in the game we were pushing for another. We had a spell where we were pushing and we knew we had to score quickly in case they came back into it. They have players who can score goals because they are a good team. It's a credit to us that we could come back to win the game."
