Fosu wins monthly award

6 May 2016

Tariqe Fosu is Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for April.

The on loan Reading winger scored three times and picked up two assists in the month as the Reds climbed into an automatic promotion place.

He beat off competition from Barnet striker John Akinde, Stevenage full back Fraser Franks and Lyle Taylor of AFC Wimbledon to win the award.

"It's an amazing feeling, said the 20-year-old. "I've had an amazing time at Accrington so far and this wouldn't have been possible without the other lads. They've made me feel welcome since I got here and the staff and the fans have been great with me.

"When I came in I expected it to be hard to get into the team because they were doing so well but I thought I'd get my head down and take my opportunity when I got it.

"It's been a great experience at a great club with great fans and great people.

"The most important thing this week is to beat Stevenage and win promotion on Saturday. It's great to get nominated for player of the month and even better to win but Saturday is the most important thing.

"We're buzzing about that game. We're always positive in the dressing room and we're trying to take it like any other game really."
