Win is a relief: Coleman

2 January 2016

John Coleman admitted it was a huge relief as Stanley returned to winning ways at Mansfield.

The Reds had gone three games without a win but goals from Piero Mingoia, Billy Kee and Terry Gornell secured a 3-2 victory for Stanley against their fellow promotion contenders.

However Coleman admitted the Reds were wasteful in front of goal and didn't make it easy for themselves with a nervy finish in the clash at the One Call Stadium.

"We should have been out of sight in the first 15 or 20 minutes as we created enough chances to win two matches," said Coleman.

"We took an early lead but then it was a calamity of a goal for their equaliser and then they stepped up their game.

"They started the second half better than us but then we made changes. Sometimes they work for you, sometimes they can backfire but today they worked with Terry Gornell playing a part in our second goal and scoring our third goal.

"With the chances we created, I didn't expect to be hanging on like we were and we have got to be more ruthless and not lose concentration at important times.

"We finished like we started, strongly, but we have got to show the same appetite for the full 90 minutes. We have just got to keep winning games and then it will take us to where I think we should be."
