Accrington Stanley forward Shay McCartan said he was honoured to be named the PFA Fans' Player of the Month for January in Sky Bet League Two.
McCartan scored three goals in four league games as Accrington secured three wins in January.
The 21-year-old secured 46.2 per cent of the vote to beat off competition from Oxford United strike Kemar Roofe (32.6 per cent) and Plymouth midfielder Gregg Wylde (21.2 per cent), who were also on the final three-man shortlist.
McCartan said: “I only played three games in January but I scored a few goals and I couldn't have done it without the rest of the lads who have been brilliant.
“I scored against Hartlepool and Exeter and we won against Bristol Rovers so hopefully we can carry that on for the rest of the season and get ourselves in the automatic places and, if not, the play-offs."
McCartan has started the last four matches after having to battle for a first team spot this season.
"I've had to wait for my chance but thankfully I've been able to take it," said the Northern Ireland Under 21 international.
“I didn't really play for the first six months which shows the strength of the team really. It's been so easy to slot in alongside them and play with them and click straight away.
“It's every credit to them. I've taken the plaudits this time because I've scored some goals but the main thing is that we won some games and got points on the board.
“It's really nice to get this award but the main thing is to get the three points.
“I'm very surprised to win as I didn't think I'd get it but I have to say thanks to everyone that voted. It means a lot to me and I really appreciate it.”
