The Dutch Diaries - Day Five

9 August 2016

Scholars Nathan Wolland and Harry Waterhouse give us an insight into the U18s pre-season tour to Holland...

Today was Friday and that meant it was a pre match day and all our focus was on preparation for tomorrow's game against FC Den Haag.

The preparation started with breakfast as normal before heading to the training pitches for a light session focusing on the technical aspects of the game. After working up an appetite the team headed for lunch. This was followed by our second Dutch lesson which the players felt was engaging and enjoyable. The session looked at simple conversations which will hopefully help us to interact with the locals better. Then we looked at the structure of Dutch amateur sides which were well organised and played a major role in the community.

After lunch the lads relaxed with a karaoke, this was a great team building exercise ahead of the game tomorrow. Everyone had a great laugh and players took turns to sing songs. Everyone was in high spirits as the day came to an end with the players headed to bed, feeling we're excited and prepared for tomorrow's game v Ado Den Haag.
