Janoi Donacien has put pen to paper on a new contract with Accrington Stanley.
The defender's new deal will keep him at the Wham Stadium until the end of the season.
The former Aston Villa, Wycombe and Newport County full back made his debut for the Reds in the opening game of the season having signed a short term contract.
Now he's pleased to be staying longer and thinks John Coleman's team has the potential to have a successful season.
“There are a lot of players in the dressing room who can still go higher,” he said. “Every time you look around you can see players who want to work hard and improve and that's one of the best things about being here. You see people who constantly want to better themselves.
“We still feel like we can kick on and do good things. I saw the potential from the first training session and the first game. I felt from then that we could do well in this division.
“A longer term deal is great. You have the security of knowing what the future holds and you can just get your head down and work hard.”
Having committed his future to the club Donacien now turns his attention to Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Burnley.
The buzz about the game is building as kick off gets closer.
“Everyone is so excited and really up for it,” explained Donacien. “Everyone watched the draw and the boys have been talking about it since that draw was made. We're just looking to put a good performance in and we hope that can bring the right result and kick us on for Saturday too.”
