Stanley v Morecambe

15 April 2016

Tomorrow is derby day at the Wham Stadium as Morecambe make the trip south.

Stanley will be out to remain in an automatic promotion spot, with their visitors keen to do the double over their rivals after a win at the Globe Arena earlier in the season.[vc_accordion][vc_accordion_tab title="The Opposition"]

Like Stanley, Morecambe are tipped to struggle by many ahead of each new season but have set about establishing themselves as a Football League club.

Under the leadership of former player Jim Bentley they finished the 2014/15 campaign in eleventh place.

This season has proven to be trickier though and though they are well clear of the drop zone it looks like a bottom half finish this time.

Bentley started his playing career at Manchester City, but left without making a first team appearance. Bentley then moved to Telford in 1997 and made 79 appearances and scored 23 goals, before he moved on to Morecambe in 2002. In his time at Morecambe, he made 298 appearances and scored 29 goals.

He's become virtually synonymous with the Shrimps ever since, taking the step up to the manager's job after winding down his playing career.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="One to Watch"]

Born in Alsager, Miller began his career at Crewe where he scored 39 goals in 163 appearances before moving to Sheffield United in 2012.

In his two seasons with the Blades, Miller scored four goals in 28 appearances, also spending time on loan at Shrewsbury Town.

Miller joined Coventry City, spending time on loan with York, before joining Morecambe last year.

He is the Shrimps top scorer with 14 goals this season.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="Form Guide"][vc_text_separator title="Stanley: WWWDW" color="juicy_pink"]Stanley are unbeaten in seven matches altogether and looking to extend that run to eight.

Midfielder Matt Crooks has been continuing his recovery from an ankle injury at St George's Park and was due to rejoin the squad this morning.
