Selection is tough: Coley

7 April 2016

John Coleman admits picking his 18 for the six game promotion run-in is his biggest headache at the moment.

Coleman has almost a full squad to choose from with only Matt Crooks and Huddersfield loanee Joe Wright definitely out.

He admits having to leave players out who have featured in his starting XI this season is tough.

“For Cambridge, it's the hardest bench I have ever had to pick and, on the other side to that, probably the strongest bench I have ever had at Accrington.

“When you have Rommy Boco, Andy Little and Anthony Barry to name but a few off the top of my head sat in the stands you know you have got a good squad.”

The fifth placed Reds, only out off the automatic promotion spots on goal difference, travel to Luton on Saturday as they look to make an impact in the top three – and Coleman believes if they get there, they will stay there.

“We have still not got into the automatic spots this season. I think we are the only team in the top 10 who have not been in the top three so if we get into it at this stage, it might bode well for us. We might hit it at the right time and stay there.

“I think if we do get promoted this season, it will be a far greater achievement that if Northampton, Oxford or Plymouth get promoted, just because of the resources we have compared to them.”
