Pearson expecting big night

20 October 2015

Matty Pearson is backing Stanley to put their hard work at Plymouth to good effect tonight against AFC Wimbledon.

The Reds were beaten at Home Park at the weekend despite dominating long spells of the game.

Now they host the Dons and Pearson feels there's a real determination in the dressing room to take the three points.

“I think Plymouth was just one of those games where we couldn't score," he said. "We had so many chances and we've been looking at them and we're determined to put it right and convert them."

Tonight's visitors also lost at the weekend, heavily at home to Morecambe, and Pearson believes that adds to the stakes at the Wham Stadium.

“It's a massive game for us," he continued. "We're all wanting to do well and after the Plymouth game we're all quite confident even though we lost. We're going out to give Wimbledon a really good game.

“A few of the lads have said that they'll be looking to bounce back but we've got to make sure that doesn't happen. Hopefully we'll do that and get the win."

Manager John Coleman has stated this week that this is the best side he's had during his time with the Reds.

Pearson, who was a summer signing from Halifax, is taking that as a great compliment.

“It doesn't add pressure," he insisted. "People expect us not to do so well but we have got some great players. Billy Kee's been brilliant for us, we've got Josh Windass and Crooksy, Piero. We're such a good attacking team.

“I think if we can get it right defensively then we have a great team."
