Birthday cheer for Coley

10 October 2015

John Coleman celebrates his 53rd birthday on Monday - and is delighted to have a Stanley win to raise a glass to.

The Reds beat Barnet 2-1 with an own goal from Sam Togwell putting Stanley ahead in the 23rd minute before Michael Gash equalised on 34 minutes.

Sean McConville scored a solo effort in the 61st minute to give Accrington the three points and move them into fifth place in the league.

"It's unusual but nice to celebrate my birthday with a win," said Coleman. "We started brightly and scored a goal when we were on top and could have added a couple more.

"The problem we said would be complacency and we got complacent and it was a couple of mistakes and the keeper should do better with the shot and then we are scratching our heads at half-time as they scored and are in the ascendancy.

"There were some harsh words said at half-time and then we applied ourselves better in the second half and Sean scored a great goal. He had no right to get that in from that angle but the power took it in.

"Successful teams bounce back after defeats and we have done that after losing to Oxford. Now we want to build on that and go on and try and win at Plymouth."
