Ready for Wycombe: Coley

16 March 2015

John Coleman knows his team will have to be on their guard until the end at Wycombe – and beware ‘Murphy time'.

Stanley travel to Gareth Ainsworth's title-chasers tomorrow night and Coleman and the Reds squad will come up against midfielder Peter Murphy, who came through the ranks at the Store First Stadium and scored a number of late, late goals before his switch to Adams Park in the summer.

Wycombe, who have had a remarkable turnaround since coming close to the drop last season, also have a member of Stanley's 2011 play-off squad in Joe Jacobson in their ranks.

Coleman, whose side drew with the Chairboys at home in December, said: “I get on great with Peter and his family and I hope he has a smashing career and more success in his career.

“I wouldn't begrudge him getting promoted but I just hope we can put a dent in Wycombe's promotion chase tomorrow night.

“Saying that, Wycombe have done well this season. They are a team who work really hard and they have come back from losing positions on several occasions.

“There isn't a lot though between teams at the top and the bottom – every game is winnable or you can also lose them. The difference is that the teams at the top have the consistency and with that comes a belief.

“Wycombe have got consistency and belief this season and we are striving to be like that.

“It will be tough at their place but anyone who saw the first 20 minutes of the second half at Burton would have thought we were the home team and we were the title chasers.

“There hasn't been a lot in the games we have played against the top teams but it has been down to individual mistakes which have cost us.

“We have given away silly goals but I think a lot of teams in this league have the same problems. We have to iron that out and we go to Wycombe with no fear.”
