AFC Darwen 0 Stanley 3

14 July 2015

Stanley picked up a first pre-season win with a 3-0 victory at non-league AFC Darwen.

Piero Mingoia, Marcus Carver and second year scholar Nathan Webb were the second half goalscorers as the Reds played the first of back to back away friendlies against Northwest Counties opposition.

The visitors made most of the running in the first period though goalkeeper Jason Mooney was forced into an early save from a back post header.

Carver and Adam Morgan threatened at the other end  as John Coleman's team looked to open the scoring but it was the home side who went closest with Adam Cummins force to clear of the line.

The majority of the side from the first period returned for the second 45 minutes and took the lead through Mingoia. His strike from outside the area looked destined for the keeper's gloves but deflected up off a defender and over the stricken number one.

One was soon two as a cross from sub Jason St Juste was headed down by Morgan and converted from close range by Carver.

As the half wore on Stanley began to come into their own and substitute Webb added a touch of lustre to proceedings with a deft chip over the goalkeeper to take the opportunity handed to him with the first team and make it 3-0.

Stanley: Mooney, Trialist, Cummins, Winnard, Trialist, Windass (Webb), Conneely, Mingoia, Hazeldine (St Juste), Morgan, Carver
