Accrington Stanley's players took time out of training to drop in on two lucky primary and high school programmes across Hyndburn yesterday.
Accrington Academy and St Johns in Great Harwood were the two schools to get a visit from four players with Nicky Hunt and captain Luke Joyce heading to Accrington Academy for a Streets UK enrichment session and Andy Proctor and new boy Matt Macey helping out at a KS2 Football after school session at St Johns Great Harwood.
“It's so crucial for ourselves at the Community Trust to link closely with the football club,” said Stanley's Community Trust Sport Development Officer Chris Mullen. “To have the lads take an active part in our primary and secondary school programmes only creates a positive image of the club within our local community and hopefully gets the new generation of youth to grow up supporting their local club”.
“It's an extremely important part of this football club to get out and about involved in sessions participated in by young kids from our area,” added Andy Proctor, who visited the St Johns Great Harwood session “getting younger fans interested in the club and coming through the gates on a Saturday is crucial for this football club and us taking time out visiting schools in our area can only benefit this!”
Watch out for a surprise visit from the Reds at your school in the near future!
