Fleetwood youth 0 Stanley youth 1

9 February 2015

Stanley's youth team ran out 1-0 winners over Fleetwood Town thanks to a goal by midfielder Jack Hartley.

The young Reds built on their midweek point against Burnley to take all three from their trip to Lytham.

Stanley started well and created a host of early chances with Maz Hazeldine twice testing the home goalkeeper before Keenan Quansah smashed a strike over the bar after bursting into the box.

Both sides had further chances but it was goalless at the break and Fleetwood came out looking to break the deadlock after the restart.

However, they were unable to grab the first goal, with home goalkeeper Wynne forced to turn Hartley's deflected effort over.

It was a brief reprieve; Hartley volleying the Reds in front from a cross to find the top corner and give the visitors the advantage.

In response, Myers' tame effort was saved by 15-year-old Stanley keeper Jack Little who then had to also come and clear his lines as Town looked to press to find that elusive equaliser.

Fleetwood rallied, but couldn't break Stanley's back four down, with Hancox linking up well with Myers before shooting narrowly wide.

Hazeldine went close to adding a second from inside the box only to find Wynne in fine form bbut the defence held firm and the Reds secured the points.
