Stanley v Mansfield Town

17 August 2015

The busy Football League calendar continues tomorrow as Mansfield Town visit the Wham Stadium.

It's a fourth game in ten days for the Reds at the start of the new campaign and they'll be hoping to put in a good performance and take maximum points against the Stags.[vc_accordion][vc_accordion_tab title="The Opposition"]The Stags are beginning their third season back in the Football League and will be keen to continue the process of cementing themselves in League Two, with an eye on challenging higher up the table.

Last season they had a brush with a relegation battle but ultimately finished 21st and seven points clear of danger.

They've made an encouraging start to the new campaign and will be keen to keep it going at the Wham Stadium.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="Manager"]Adam Murray, at 33, is the youngest boss in the Football League.

He took over at Mansfield in a caretaker role in November last season before becoming manager in December.

He faced a battle to keep them in the Football League last season but they finished in 21st spot – seven points clear of the bottom two. He admitted he was relieved his first season was over after a tricky time and will look to improve this season.

Murray has amassed a wealth of experience within the professional game, having made more than 500 appearances during his 17-year playing career and winning promotion no fewer than five times.

The midfielder started his career in the Premier League at Derby County and also has Carlisle, Torquay, Macclesfield, Oxford and Luton on his CV as well as three spells at Mansfield.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="One to Watch"]Talisman Matt Green showed no hesitation to put pen-to-paper on a contract with Mansfield during the close season.

Green is fondly remembered by Stags supporters for his exploits in their title-winning Conference Premier campaign in 2013.

The striker won the divisional ‘Golden Boot' award for his exploits that term as he weighed in with 25 goals in the league before joining Birmingham City.

Overall, he scored 57 goals during his first spell at the club and has stated his intentions to become Mansfield's all-time top scorer during the next few years.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="Form Guide"][vc_text_separator title="Stanley: DLL" title_align="separator_align_center" color="juicy_pink"]Stanley are looking for the first win of the campaign and to respond to Saturday's derby defeat at Morecambe.

Before that the Reds had held Championship side Hull only to lose on penalties and took a point from the opening game at home to Luton having conceded a 90th minute equaliser.[vc_text_separator title="Mansfield Town: WLD" title_align="separator_align_center" color="orange"]Like the Reds, the visitors began their campaign with a league draw, in this case at home to Carlisle.

They were subsequently beaten in the Capital One Cup by Sheffield Wednesday but responded with a win at local rivals Notts County on Friday evening.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="Stanley Team News"]Skipper Terry Gornell is a doubt after receiving a kick to the ankle at Morecambe and being replaced at half time. John Coleman is yet to rule the striker out but he faces a race to be ready.

Shay McCartan has missed the last few games after breaking his wrist but is hoping to get the all clear to resume training this week.[/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title="Admission Details"]Adults £20
