New stadium & kit sponsor

4 August 2015

Accrington Stanley will start the new season with a dynamic new shirt sponsor - PlasticBoxShop.

The leading online retailer sells a massive range of plastic boxes and housewares through its website, www.plasticboxshop.co.uk and will take over as Accrington Stanley's shirt sponsor for the next three years.

In a separate deal, one of PlasticBoxShop's key partner companies - What More UK Limited – will take over as the stadium sponsor, under their brand name Wham. The famous Accrington Stanley Crown Ground will be renamed the ‘Wham Stadium' from the start of the new season this Saturday, 8th August.

Gary Lyons, Managing Director of PlasticBoxShop, said: “I've always had a soft spot for Accrington Stanley, ever since seeing the famous milk advert on TV when I was a kid, especially as my dad came from Liverpool!

“It's a historic and iconic club and when the opportunity came up for PlasticBoxShop to be the shirt sponsor I leapt at it. In supporting Accrington Stanley we feel that we have found a club that has come from humble beginnings like ourselves, but has ambitions to keep on growing and we plan to treble in size. Over the next 3 years our ambition is to make PlasticBoxShop one of the UK's best known brands.”

Tony Grimshaw, Director of What More UK Ltd, said: “We're very excited about this venture and looking forward to seeing Accrington Stanley moving up the league table over the next few months.

“Since its inception in 1999, Wham has grown so rapidly and we thought it was about time to give something back to the community where it all started - on a small industrial estate in Huncoat Accrington. Its range now exceeds 650 products, developed and distributed from its state-of-the-art 500,000 square foot facility in Altham, holding over a million boxes.”

Peter Marsden, Chairman of Accrington Stanley FC, said: “These two sponsorship deals with PlasticBoxShop and Wham are great news for everyone involved with the club, from the players and officials to the fans.

“They put us on a stronger footing going forward and allow us to focus on giving our best performance on the pitch, knowing we have some top flight sponsors backing us. With the new season about to be starting this weekend, we aim to do them proud.”
