ANDY Procter will be aiming to get one over his former boss when Stanley take on Stevenage today.
Graham Westley signed Procter for Preston in January 2012 as the midfielder ended a 10-year association with Stanley.
However Westley and North End parted company in February 2013 and he returned to Borough for a third spell later than year.
Procter, meanwhile, went onto Bury before returning to the Reds in August this year.
“Graham Westley came in and made a decent bid for me,” said Procter, of his move to Deepdale. “I did enjoy my time at Preston. It didn't really work out as successfully as I'd hoped it would but I'll always be grateful he gave me the chance to play for such a big club.
“Graham does have his own unique methods but you have to say it's worked at his time at Stevenage. He turned a non-league club into a club that was challenging at the top end of League One.
“I think if the lads do buy into his methods it can provide success but at Preston it didn't really work out.”
Procter isn't thinking about Westley though – more about avenging the play-off defeat Stanley suffered to Borough in 2011.
“It would be nice to avenge that play-off defeat because I don't think we did ourselves justice or any favours,” said Procter, with Stevenage winning 3-0 overall and then overcoming Torquay in the final to win promotion to League One.
“They were leading 2-0 from the first leg and were really strong defensively in the second leg and they saw out the game. In the end it became almost a bit of a farce, we had two sending offs and it sort of fizzled out at the end of what was a fantastic season for us.
“This now though is a massive game for us and my allegiance certainly lies with Accrington and bouncing back after the Dagenham defeat.”
