Our summer National Citizen Service group have just completed their social Action Project raising awareness and money for Child Brain Injury Trust.
The group began their NCS journey back in July when Accrington Stanley Community Trust took them on an outdoor pursuit's week in Shropshire; here they learnt valuable communication and team building skills. They went on to spend another 5 days living in University Halls of residence in Preston, they learnt about various community issues and helped out at Fishwick Nature Reserve in Preston, undertaking vital work to help the growth of the local wildlife.
It was then time for the group to undertake their own project, choosing to help Child Brain Injury Trust they set about arranging cake sales, bag packs and bucket collections at Accrington Stanley. The group of 45 young people aged 16/17 managed to raise £500. NCS Officer Lee Walsh explains ‘the group worked really well together and showed great determination to raise this amount of money, everyone involved with the project is really proud of them and they should be proud of themselves.'
A cheque will be presented to child Brain Injury Trust at half time during the Cambridge Utd Game, 22nd November. The group will also receive there NCS certificates, these will look brilliant on their CVs as they go on to college and University.
