Stanley Futsal head for Nationals again!

2 July 2014

Stanley Futsal will be back in similar surroundings tomorrow, as they travel down to the National Futsal Arena in Birmingham for the National League 4 Finals.

After first visiting there back in January for the inaugural Soccer AM Cup competition and the National Finals for League 2 a few weeks back, the Reds this time have been drawn into Group 2 of the competition and will take on Swindon Town, Exeter City, Bradford City, Bristol Rovers and Derby County, with the top four qualifying for the Quarter Final stage later on in the day.

The Football League Trust Education & Futsal Programme offers 16 to 18 year olds (male and female) the chance to find passes on and off the pitch at Football League clubs across the country, as they learn, train, play and work through Futsal.

Accrington Stanley are now into their second year of running the course, and success in the classroom has been matched with success on the field this year, as our D team cohort, made up of first year scholars, are now the second team to have qualified for the FLT National Finals tomorrow, Thursday 3rd July 2014, through their excellent 4th place finish in the FLT North Central Division 4.

Futsal Education Officer Allan Phillipson explains “the students are coming towards the end of the year and have worked hard both on and off the pitch. Events like this are a brilliant opportunity to reward the students and a really good celebration for all involved”.

Good luck to all our scholars playing and hope you thoroughly enjoy the experience!

We have had a few places open up on our scholarships starting in September, so if you would like more information please visit our website www.stanleytrust.co.uk or email us at info@stanleytrust.co.uk
