Preview: Blackburn (H)

23 July 2014

Football returns to the Store First Stadium tonight as Blackburn Rovers make the short trip down the M65 for Stanley's first home pre-season match.

Fresh from away wins at non-league New Mills and Nelson the Reds face a huge step up in quality against a Rovers side that narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs last season.

Confidence is high at Ewood Park of a more successful campaign this time around and with the Blackburn players just back from a training camp in Portugal they'll be raring to go.

Visiting manager Gary Bowyer has promised to be bring a strong side, meaning summer signings Chris Brown, Luke Varney and Alex Baptiste could all play a part.

Former Stanley star Connor Mahoney is on the road back from injury but may be involved. This game is part of the deal that saw the youngster leave the Store First Stadium for Ewood.

James Beattie still has a number of players training with the squad looking to win contracts as he looks to finalise his business for the new season. Once again, the core of contracted players will be involved in the game with a number of uncontracted players also likely to play some part.

Tickets remain on sale at £15 for adults, £10 for over 65's and students and £5 for under 17's. Pay on the gate will be available unless all tickets sell out.
