Maguire looking to step up

24 December 2014

Returning loanee Sean Maguire is challenging himself to continue his improvement after securing another month at the Store First Stadium.

The 20-year-old scored four goals in 13 appearances in his initial three month spell with the Reds and jumped at the chance to get another 28 days under his belt.

"I'm really happy to be back," he said. "I went back down to West Ham for a couple of days and when I got the phone call to say that we could extend the deal I phoned the gaffer and thankfully it all got done in a couple of days.

"I was really happy to get back up here, trained today and can't wait for the game on Friday now. It's like I haven't left because the boys have had a few days off.

"The club's a family, like a really close community. Everyone is really close together and that's really brilliant."

Maguire goes straight into the squad for the Boxing Day trip to York City and believes it could be a crucial period for John Coleman's team.

"I'm really looking forward to this Christmas break because there are a lot of games coming up and I think it's time to step up a gear for myself," he explained. "I've scored a few goals and been doing well but I want to add a few more goals to that and kick on.

"We felt we should have won against Wycombe at the weekend. We've been playing well and that means that we expect to win games. We go into every game with that expectation and I'm really looking forward to being back out there."
