Accrington Stanley have completed the permanent signing of forward George Bowerman.
The 21-year-old was a free agent following his release by League One side Walsall at the end of last season. He's agreed a contract at the Store First Stadium until the end of the season.
“I'm delighted,” said manager James Beattie. “George has scored goals in League One so we're pleased to have him on board. Hopefully he can add some firepower to the strike force, his movement is excellent and he passes the ball into the net, he's very precise with his finishing and very rarely blasts the ball.
“He shows the composure and quality in front of goal that we have been lacking in recent weeks.”
Bowerman scored eleven goals in 59 appearances for Walsall after coming through the club's youth system and recently trained with Scottish Premiership side St. Johnstone before red tape prevented a permanent transfer.
“I know speaking to him and his agent that he had other offers on the table and ours was by no means the best in monetary terms,” explained Beattie. “I think the appeal for George is the opportunity to come in and work with myself. Hopefully we can develop him as a player and a person.
“He's got on well with the lads, he's integrated well into the squad and he just told me that he felt that it felt right here. He wants to help us climb up the table and we welcome him into the squad. Hopefully he can start producing for us.”
