Accrington Stanley Community Trust launched the first block of girls football sessions in 4 local secondary schools this week. After receiving funding from The FA and Sport England we teamed up with Hollins, Mount Carmel, Ribblesdale and Norden High Schools to launch this fantastic programme.
We will be running 10 week sessions at each school during the 2013/2014 season which will see 12 schools take part and 120 sessions in total aimed at getting girls aged 14+ playing football.
Community Manager Martin Fearon said ‘It is fantastic to receive funding to deliver this programme and work closely on girl's football with the local secondary schools. The funding enables us to go into schools free of charge and deliver high quality sessions. One of our aims is to get some of the girls who have not played much football before to join teams on a weekend and boost the amount of girl's actively playing football'.
