Accrington Stanley’s three-game winning streak in League One came to an end with a 2-0 loss at MK Dons.

The Reds had their chances with both Dion Charles and Joel Mumbongo racing clean through but neither could find the target.

The two sides were separated by Mo Eisa’s 45^th minute goal and a late effort from Matt O’Riley as Stadium:MK remains an unhappy hunting ground for the Reds.

Mitch Clark made his Stanley debut after signing permanently from Leicester City this week, replacing the injured Joe Pritchard.

John Coleman’s men started well with Harry Pell and David Morgan both having half chances but they couldn’t find the target.

Then came the chance for Charles to open the scoring on 15 minutes when Sean McConville put the striker clean through, he drew out goalkeeper Andrew Fisher and chipped the ball past him but also wide of the target.

Eisa had the first real chance for the home side but blasted over while a Harry Darling free kick was way over the goal.

Stanley continued to press but there was a threat when Troy Parrott burst through but a firm tackle from Michael Nottingham denied him a chance to shoot.

MK Dons took the lead when Parrott fed Eisa in the area. The striker twisted and turned the Reds defence and slotted into the far corner of the net in the 45^th minute for his third goal of the season.

With the last play of the half, Pell headed over a McConville free kick as Coleman had to change his half-time team talk with the late goal.

Stanley had a great chance to equalise just after the interval when a long Ross Sykes throw caused chaos in the area but Harvey Rodgers could only find the side netting.

However, MK Dons came so close to making it two on 49 minutes when Eisa’s strike was saved by Trafford, the keeper could only push it out to the feet of Scott Twine and Trafford did superbly to deny him at close range with the third effort blocked by Sykes.

Joel Mumbongo came on for Clark on 55 minutes as Stanley chased the game but it was MK who had the next chance, Tennai Watson dragging his strike wide after a quick break.

Again it was MK who had a good chance on 70 minutes as, after a McConville free kick came to nothing, a long goal kick from Fisher set Parrott through on his own. Parrott tried to chip Trafford but the Reds keeper got a hand to it and managed to push the ball up and catch it to deny the home side some breathing space.

On 77 minutes, Stanley had a superb chance to equalise when a mistake at the back allowed Mumbongo to race towards goal with only the keeper to beat but he agonisingly side-footed the ball narrowly wide.

MK Dons sealed the win when Stanley failed to clear their lines on 85 minutes and Hiram Boateng fed Matt O’Riley in the area and he stroked the ball home.
